SSC CGL 2025 exam date tier 1
On September 3rd, SSC released an official notice on its website informing all candidates that the SSC CGL 2025 exam tier 1 will begin from September 12 and will conclude on September 26. The exam will run for approximately 15 days and will be conducted in three shifts daily.

Background: Postponement and Vendor Change
Due to ongoing issues in recent months, the exam has been postponed twice. In March, SSC changed its vendor from TCS to Ediiquity, which led to a one-month postponement of all SSC exams. However, due to poor conditions under the new vendor, students raised their voices in protest. Many SSC teachers also supported the students, and a protest was held in Delhi.
Following this, some teachers met with the DoPT Minister, who assured them that all issues would be carefully reviewed and resolved. As a result, the SSC CGL exam, which was originally scheduled to begin on August 12, was postponed to September 12.
Admit Card & City Intimation
SSC typically publishes the exam city and center details on its official website 10 days before the exam. The admit card is issued only 3 days before the exam. All candidates are advised to regularly check the SSC official website for updates regarding their city and admit card.
Exam Mode and Structure
The SSC CGL exam is conducted in CBT mode (Computer-Based Test), which means it is held online. Each day includes 2 to 3 shifts, and each shift lasts 1 hour. Candidates are required to report to the exam center 1.5 hours before the exam begins.
The exam is conducted in two tiers:
- SSC CGL EXAM Tier 1: Qualifying in nature, consists of 100 questions to be completed in 1 hour.
- SSC CGL EXAM Tier 2: For candidates who qualify Tier 1. It includes 130 questions with a time limit of 2 hours, followed immediately by a typing test. A final merit list is then prepared based on performance, which determines selection.
